Deirdre Dyson Contemporary Handmade Carpets, the UK's leading bespoke carpet company, has redefined the nature and role of carpets within both domestic and business environments and has become internationally renowned as an innovator within the carpet world.

Launched in 2001 Deirdre Dyson Contemporary Handmade Carpets London was formed almost by chance when Dyson decided to design her own carpet after struggling to find one that she liked.  Dyson trained at both the Byam Shaw Art School and Wimbledon College of Art.  She is a practicing artist and her artistic experiences are clearly inherent within the carpets.

Each Deirdre Dyson Carpets combines function with beautiful craftsmanship using a palette of over 2000 colours. Tibetan experts use the ancient skill of hand-knotting to create these carpets in pure Tibetan wool and silk or they can be hand-tufted in Scotland or Yorkshire, from the finest New Zealand wool.

Such natural materials are transformed into a series of striking designs which can be selected or adapted to suite any requirement with the option of client's own bespoke design, making the finished carpet a unique work of art.

Comissioning a Design

All of the designs at Deirdre Dyson can be commissioned to enable interior designers, architects and private clients the ability to compliment any interior surroundings.

Their specialty is crafted handmade carpets, but they can also offer pass machine carpets for larger scale projects.

Their in house designers can recommend colour matching, measurements, textures and designs to suit your criteria. Also provided services for their clients are site visits to converse your initial ideas and then oversee your individual requirements.

Hand knotted carpets and hand tufted carpets are both available from the designers at Deirdre Dyson.   

Once you have decided what method you wish to use, the next step is the design process where you can choose a selection of colours that work well together as colours themselves can dictate a design.

The drawing then begins and the design develops until a final result has been reached and then the painted carpet design is transformed into artwork for the manufacturer.
